How
the French are enhancing Singapore’s renown as
the world’s finest hospitality City!
Many may wonder why almost fifty Singaporeans
this year have gone abroad to study at Le Cordon
Bleu when there are some well established
hospitality and culinary schools in Singapore.
Many have found that the international exposure
to world class chefs, training under a strict
multicultural environment where students and
cuisines are from all over the world, and
studying in some of the world’s hospitality
hotspots gains them the edge when they return to
Singapore.
In the past few years, many Le Cordon Bleu
graduates have returned from the French icon’s
schools abroad and established many new
restaurants or hospitality businesses in
Singapore, or have been employed by other
hospitality icons. Some Singaporean graduates
are also working on lucrative contracts in
Dubai, Australia, the United States and China.
Most of the Singaporean graduates have studied
at the Le Cordon Bleu campuses in London,
Sydney, Paris, Adelaide and Ottawa, with some
starting to go to their newest campus in
Bangkok.
Other Le Cordon Bleu graduates have recently
been employed by, or have established:

www.2amdessertbar.com. Janice Wong, 24, the
proprietor, studied at Le Cordon Bleu Paris where
she met Yen Yen Kok, who she employed in this new
venture. After visiting New York she came up with
the idea of starting a dessert only bar that is open
till – you guessed it – 2am! After many months of
hard work, it finally has opened in the old
Chi-Chi’s furniture store in Holland Village (21A
Lorong Liput) and is open Mon – Sat from 6pm -2am.
